AN 0RDINANOE to license and regulal;e the business-of conveying persons,
g~ods and things from place to place for hire by the use o£ mo~or vehicles or
vehicles drawn by horses within the City of ~remerton, fixing penalties and
repealing ordinances ilo. 570 and 688, and all other ordinances and per~s .of
ordinances in c0nflict herewith,

pay to ~he City Treasurer a license fee-for each of ~id mo~or vehicles, ~railers
~d vehicles drawn by horses, ~ follows, ~o-wi~:

Section.2. Tha~ "for h~e" shall be ~aken ~o mean under the provisi~ns of
~his ordi~ance all motor vehicles and vehicles drawn ~ by horses(o~her ~han
jitneys end auto stages operating u~on a re~lar rou~e and accordi~ to schedule)
used for ~he trm~por~ation of persons, goods or things for which transportation
remuneration ~ff ~y kind is received, either directly or indirectly.
Section 3. Every such person, firm ~r corporation desiring, to operate any
~ueh vehicle as ~es~ribed in Section l, hereof, shall pay such ~aid fee for one
year in advice rte the Oi~y ~reaeurer, taking his receipt ~herefor, ~d shall
file ~he sa~ wi:~ t~ Gi~y 01erk, and ~ke written application for a license on
blanks ~rnished by the said City Clerk for ~uch purpose; staing thereon the kind
and capacity of such vehicle, the purpose for which it is to be used, the name of th
owner together with such other information as may be required by the City .Clerk, and
the City Clerk shall issue a license to such. applicant eontai~ting the information se
forthe in said application toEether with the amount of fee paid, the date of issuanc
and expiration, and shall also give to such applicant a metal plate to be attached
to such vehicle in a conspicuous place at all times, and it shall be unla~ful~ for
any person, firm or corporation to operate any such vehicle after ~he first day of
February, 1923, without having paid such tax and exhibiting such metal plate as requ
herein.
Section 4. auoh license shall not 'be transferable and it shall be unlawful for
any person, firmI or corporation to transfer such license or license plate to another
See. 5. Any person, firm or corporation operating any such vehicles for hire
as described in Section l, hereof, on or after February l, 192J, on which said
license has not Been paid or knowlingly shall make any false statements in securing
such license as provided herein or who shall be found violating any of the provi-
sions of this ordinance shall be deemed guilty of a misdemeanor and on conviction
thereof, shall be fined in any sum not exceeding One Hundred Dollars ($100.00),
or imprisonment in the Oity Jail not to exceed thirty (30) days, or by both such
fine and imprisonment, which fine shall not be deemed to be paymen2 of any .part of t
tax herein required.
Sec. 6. That ordinances No. 670 and 688, and all ct. her ordinances and parts
of ordi£~ances in conflict herewith are hereby repealed.
Sec. 7. This ordinance shall be in full force and effec~ thirty (30) days from
and after its passage and pl~blication as provided by law.
Passed by the City Commission of the 0ity of Bremerton and signed by the i¥~y~r
and attested by the Glty Clerk in authentication of such passage this 20th day of
December, A. D. 1922.
