HomeMy WebLinkAbout0735 AN ORDINANCE relating to the placing of water-cooled grease traps in all
buildings used as a hotel, restaurant, boarding house, butcher shop and repealinE
all ordinances or parts of ordinances in conflict herewith and providing penalties
for the violation hereof.
The City Council of the City of Bremerton do ordain as follows:
Sec, 1. In all cases where a building is used as a hotel, restaurant,
boarding house or butcher shop the owner or occupant shall ~rovide a water cooling
constructed grease trap through which all slops of a greasy nature shall be drained;
said grease traps shall be constructed of porcelain or cast iron and shall be of a
capacity of not less than five gallons. Grease trap shall have a screw top
fficient size to allow ~w~~ of removal of grease; if of cast iron the
top shall be bolted do~m and shall in all cases be sealed so as to prevent the
escape of sewer gas into the building, and shall be distant not less than one Toot
from any building,
The pl~bing inspector shall have authority and he is hereby authorized and
directed to compel any person or persons, firm or corporation, to provide and use
a grease trap as aforesaid, when, in his judgment the same is necessary.
Sec. 2. ~y person violating the provisions of this ordnance shall be
deemed guilty of a misdemeanor and upon conviction shall be fined in any sum up to
$300~;.00, and by imprisonment in the city jail for not more than ~0 days, or by both
such fine and imprisonment.
Sec. 3. All ordinances or parts of ordinances in conflict herewith are
hereby repealed.
Sec. ~. This ordinance shall be in full force and effect five days from and
'after its passage, approval and publication as provided by law.
