licenses ~o be hereafter issued by said Ci~y ~r the mai~tene~ce amd
operation of for hire cars or a~to~:~obiles or taxicabs;
NOW .... mW'~':~'a~~ .... 1~.~ , the City Commission of the City o.f Bremerton, does
hereby ordain, as follows:
Section l: ~rom and affter the taking effect of ~his ordinance no
license to operate or maintain for hire cars or automobiles or taxicabs
or to :~mintain a stand therefor shall be granted to any person or at any
place within ~he City of Bremerton, e~cept to such persons who are mow
operating and maintaining for hire autos, t~icabs and taxi s~ands m~der
a valid and subsisting license her~Sfor granted by the City a~a~ities
~nd w~o have complied vzith all the ordinances: and rules and regulations
of said Oily, and with the laws of the State of Washington, and wi~h any
ordinance or o~dinances,r~le or rules, regulation or regulations, or law
or laws, which may be hereafter passed; ~rovided however, that when the
population of said City by finding of said City Commission is placed at
more than twelve thousand [ 12,000), the m~ber oti licenses for auto s2ands
for hire autos and taxicabs ~ay be increased, but not exoeed one for each
one thousand Il,a00) additional population, ~nd provided further that the
City Cmm:~i~'~ion may in its discretion, grant a license for any auto stand
for hire auto or for ta:cicab purposes to any person buying ot~t the holder
of an exist~n~ license, or it may grant a ~'e-newal to any person so
licensed a~ th~:~ same or a. new location, ~nd such location may be
at any ~ime by.the said City Co:u:~ission ;~zen said city commission
deems i~ for the best interest and satiety of said airy of Bremerton, but
no oerson having sold his for hire or taxicab business shall again be
licensed ~til the population of Said City has increased so that additional
licenses may be grah~ed in conformity :riCh the provisions contained in
~his section.
Section S; This ordinance shall be in full force and effect ~hirty days
from and aft,~r its passage and publication, as provided by law.
Passed by the City Commission, signed by the ~iayor and attested by the
0i~y Clerk, this 20~h day of July, 192~ .
