AN ORDIN~%NG~ providing for the regulation,housing, and opera~iom of
Dry 0leaning Plants within ~he Ci~y Limits of the City of Bremerton an'd
providing for a license fee for the operation thereof, and fixing penalties
for ~he violation thereof;
BE IT OP~AI~ BY THE C~ COi~E~IISSION OP THE CI~ OF BR~RTON:
SECTION Z; The term "Dry Cleaning ~lant" as hereinafter used shall
be construed ~o mean any place where clothing or fabrics shall be cleased
for hire by the use of pe~role~ or any pe~role~ product.
SECTION E: The term "Pire Proof Wall" as hereinafter used shall be
oons~rued ~o mean a wall constructed of brick,tile or concrete.
SECTION Z: It shall be unlawful for any firm,person,0o-par~nerShip
~lu~
or corporation, to open up,~or maintain within ~he City Limits of the Ci~y
of Bremer~on, a dry cleaning plan~ without first having complied with the
provisions and regul~ions hereinafter contained in this Ordinance.
SECTION ~: Every Dry Bleaning Plant within the City Limits Qf the City
of Bremerton shall be housed in a building constructed wi~h fire proof
walls,
~SES~I~N 5: No Dry Cleaning Plan~ shall be conducted or maintained in
any building any par~ of which is used as an apar~men~ house, lodging house,
or which has located in it living quarters of any nature.
SECTION 6: All storage tanks ~nd clarifying tanks must be buried
a~ leas~ four (4) feet ~der gro~d.
SECTION 7: All exhausts fro~ equipment used in the operation of Dry
cleaning plants shall be on the outside of the building and not less than
nine. (9) fee~ from ~he ground.
SECTION ~; No s~ove or fire box of any kind shall be operated in the
rooms housing a Dry Cleaning Plant, unless i~ be s~rro~ded by seperate
fire proof walls.
SECTION 9; All electrical motors used in connection wi~h said business
must be installed a.~ a point not less than eigh~ (8) fee~ above the machinery
installed for ~he use o~ dry cleaning ~herein or installed in another and
separate room.

SECTION 10: No person, firm, or corporation shall engage in the business
of operating a Dry Cleaning Plant until they shall have first applied for and
received a license from the City of Bremerton as hereinafter provided.
SECTION ll: The City Commission of the City of Bremerton be and is hereby
authorized upon the application of any person, firm, or corporation, to issue
a license for the o~eration of a Dry Cleaning Plan~ within ~he City Limits
of ~he City of Bremerton upon the payment of the s~ of fifty~ {$~0,00) dollars
annual license fee therefor. Provided however, that before such license shall
be issued, the City Common, lesion may inspect ~ cause to be inspected the building
amd premises upon which said plant is to be operated ~.nd may in its discretion
require the applioan~ to furnish the plans and specificatio~ ~der which
is in~ended ~o construct and operate a Dry Cleaning Plan~.
~ECTION l~: The City Com~ission off. the City bf Bremerton be and is hereby
granted power and authority in i~s discretion in the interest of the public
health ~nd safety to refuse ~o gran~ any application for a license to o~oerate
a Dry Cleaning Plan~ in the City Limits of ~he Ci~y ~ Bremerton, where the
applicant has not complied with the terms of this OYdinance.
SECTION 13: ~ny Dry Cleaning i~l~.~nt which is now or hereafter ~ay be opened
up co~lducted or maintained in ~he City Limits of the City of Bre~er~on in
vAolation of any of the provisions of this Ordi~.nce is hereby declared to be
a nuisance and ~he City Co.~nissio~ers of the City of Bremerton, may after givi~g
ten (10) days no~ice ~o ~he owner or manager of sa~d plan~, consider the ~]at~er
relative to the conduc~ thereof a~.nd may order and declare said ,~)alnt to be a
nuisance and direct ~ha%t it be aba~ed in accordance wi~h law.
'~:~SECTION l~: ~y person, firm, or corporation violating this Ordinance
0r any par~ ~hereof shall be guilty of a misdemeanor and shall be punished
upon conviction thereof by imprison,uent i~ the City Jail no~ to exce(d thirty
(~0) days and a fine not to e>~ceed t~e smm of one hundre~ ($100.00) dollars
or bo~h such fine a~d impris
SECTION 15: This O~dinance sl~all be in full force an~ effect from
after its passage, ap~3roval, and publication ~s provided by law.
