BE' IT ORD~IINED BY THE CITY COi~E~iIS5ION 0~'~H~v CITY OB~ Btl~¥~RTON,AS'~' i'OLLOI~fS; Section 1. The word "Jitney" bus as herein used shall mean to include motor propelled vehicle used in the transportation of persons for hire over ~e streets and within the limits of the City of Bremerton,over a prescribed route ~corxding ~o schedule. ."Auto S~age" as distinguished from "Jitney Bus" is hereby ~defined to mean motor vehicle used for the transportation of passengers and baggage for hire regular schedule of time and rates between the City of Bremerton and. some ~in~ beyon~ the City limits of the City of Bremerton and beyond the city limits any adjoining city. "Person'; as used in hhis Ordinance ,is hereby defined ~o include any di~,idual or combination of individuals,firm, corporation oz' association. Section 2. It shall be unlawful to drive or operate an auto stage of a4y kin~ or Jitney bus in the City of Bremerton without first procuring a license therefor. The first 9pplication for such license shall be made to the City Cler~ and shall state the n~me ,plame of residence and occupation of ~he applican~,togethe! with ~he proposed route and schedule of such auto stage or jithey bus and fee hereina:'~er prescribed shall accomp=ny such application,whereupon the City Clerk shall issue ~uch license,provided ,tha~ if such application be for a jitney bus license,the first made by such applicant or in~o a territory already served,such city Olerk shall refer such application to the City Commission for action. ~tion ~. Any person operating Jitney busses in the~Bremert ~n,wfth a se~ting capac'ty of no~ to exceed seven (7) persons,shall pa~ n occupation Poaf c~~ ~~n occup~ or license fee '50.00) Dollars per year f ~ ~ ~kuy person~era~ing a Jitney b~ing a to,close,ting cap~ci~y i~ such ~,~bus of not less than eigh~8)~ and no~ m~ than/., twenty-five (25)in the aggrega'~e, shall pay a license fee of On--ed ($100.00 Dollars per year for e~ch jitney bus. Every person ~ing~uto stage between~the City of Bremerton an~ ~ny Poin~ outside the ~orated li~its~ny adjoining Ci~y~ shall pa~ ~ li~enso fee ns of this Ordinance shall be transferable. Section %. No new licenses shall be issued ~o operate any Jitney bus any route, or into any ~erri~ory already served except upon the petition of at l~ast twenty-five ~5) householders on such route. Every applican~ for a license of an kind under the provisions of this Ordinance shall f~le with the City Clerk the covered by such licensee together with a schedule of trips,~nd every Jitney bus licensed under the provisions of this Ordinance shall maintain ~ schedule frc~ ? ~.E. to 8 P.~. each and every da~ except Sund~ys and Holidays,during which d~ys i~ sh~ll bo optional with said licensee. SeCtion 5. Each and every jitney bus mentioned in ~his Ordinance shall carry liability insurance to pro~ec~ the public. It shall carry on~eam~bus lie' ili~y insurance'~up to O5000.00.for injury to one person and .$10.000.00. injury ~o more than one person in each and every accident. &leo it shall carry on each bus One Thous~nd ($1000.00) Dollars property damage for each ~ocident. Each Jitney bus operator s:all file a written statement with ~he Clerk,signed by the Insurgence ~ompamy, showihg the amount of insurance in ~oree and the number of each bus on which a policy exists Section ~. It shall be unlawful for ~he owner or operator of any jitn ~o fail to operate same according to his schedule, or to permi~ a deviation from such route,or schedule, unless ~he failure ~o do so shall be the result of accident a .d the olosing of such route t~ vehicle traffic, oonJe~tion of ~raffic or some circums~ ~noe in good faith beyond the control of such owner or operator;and in ~he event of a~ciden~ or break+~own the the owner shall forthwith place another bus on said route and nain~ain his schedule without unnecessary delay. Section 7o It shall be unlawful for the holder of any Jitney licens~ ~ssued under ~he ~rms of th~s Ordinance.to solicit or transport for hire passengers a~,~here except o~Per the routes specified in the schedule fil~.~d f~ with th,~ City Clerk. Upon ~$o_f made of the viol~.~ion of thi~ s~ction,after he~ring ~nd due notic~ to the holder of s~id license.theft he h~s b,~.cn guilty of transporting ~)aa~- eng~rs for hire other than on ~he rou~e scheduled,his license shall be revoked. ~~.~ ~ECTION 8.
