AN 0RDIN~CE providing that the City.of Bremerton elects to place its
Fire Department and the members thereof under Civil Service as provided by the
laws of the State of ~Vashington, declaring all members and employees iu the
Fire Department tc b~ ~.~der Civil Service, creating ~ Civil Service GoEission
in the ma~er, with the powers ~nd under the provisions as provided by the l~ws
of the State of ~ashington, providing for tl~e necessary appropriation for the
expenses of such co~lssion.
THE CITY C0~ISSI0~ 0F T~ CITY 0F ~R~RT0~ D0 0RD~I~ ~S F0~0WS:
Section 1. That the City of Breme~ton elects to and hereby does place its
Fire Department and all members and employee~ thereof under classified civil
service as provided by the' la?,~ of th~ State o~' Washington, and all appointments
to, promotions in, discipline in and discharges from said department shall be
made under the provisions of the laws of the State of ~ashlngton.
Section 2. There is ~ereby created a. civil service co~issian which shall
be composed of three persons to be appointed by the Mayor with ~he approval of
a ma3orlty of the city co~mGission, i~edLately upon the t~king effect of this
ordinance, which commission shall be appointed for such term or terms, with such
qualifications, powers, l'imitations and shall adopt ~uoh rules and re~lations
and methods of procedure and shall perfo~ such duties as lS required by and
under the provisious of the laws of the State of Washington.
Section 3. The City Co~uission shall provide the necessary room for the
meetings of such oo~lssion, ~ogether with necessary equipment, blanks, forms,
stationery and other necessary accessories ~herefor, as may be required, and
are hereby authorized and empowered ~o make the necessary appropriation for the
expenses of such con~ission.
Sectio~ 4. This ordinance shall be in full force and effect thirty (30)
days from and after its passage and publication as provided by law.
PASSED by ~he City Commission of ~he City of Bremerton in regular session
assembled, signed by the ~ayor and attested by the City Clerk in authentication
of such passage this 18th day of lvlay, 1935.
