AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY OF BRE~RT~N providing for the regulation of taxis,
engaged in the City of Bremerton in the carrying of passengers for hire, whether
the same be automobile, motorcycle or other methods and providing that no such
vehicle shall be licensed by the City of Bremerton unless the owners thereof first
secure an indemnifying bond which shall protect the passengers carried by said
taxi~s and also cover any damage to person or property which may be caused through
the fault of the driver of said taxiss to any and all persons and property within
the City of Bremerton, providing a penalty for the violation of this ordinance.
BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY C0~v~ISSICN OF THE CZTY OF BRE~CERTON:
Section 1. That the City of Bremerton shall require any person or persons,
or corporat!on engaged in the business of carrying persons for hire, whether it be
by automobile, motorcycle or other means commonly known as the taxifcab business,
to secure a bond and file the same with the City Clerk of the City of Bremerton
covering any damage to passengers, so carried, or to persons and property within
the City of Bremerton wl~ich may be caused by the careless or negligent operation
of said taxi~s within the said City of Bremerton and the said bond shall cover
damage to persons up to and including the sum of ~10,000.00 dollarsand shall cover
damage to property up to and including the sum of $5,000.00 dollars, and no taxi-
cab shall be permitted within the City of Bremerton unless they shall have first,
in addition to the present requirements, having procured the said bond, filed the
seine with the City Clerk of the City of Bremerton and shall have received the
approval of the said City Clerk of said bond.
Section 2. That any taxi-cab, as above described, who shall operate the same
in the City of Bremerton without complying with this ordinance, that each days
operation shall con~dtute a separate offense and each days operation shall be and
is hereby declared to be a misdemeanor and the owner of said taxi-cab shall be
subject to a 'fine of not to exceed One Hundr§d Dollars ($100.00) or imprisonment
in the city jail for a period of not to exceed thirty (30) days or by both such
fine and imprisonment for each day the said owner shall operate said taxi without
complying with the provisions of this ordinance.
Section 3. That this ordinance shall be in full force and effect thirty days
from and after the passage and publication hereof.
