AN 0RDINANCE adopting and confirming the assessment roll for Local
Improvement District No. 171, created and established by Ordinance No. 1187,
providing for the improvement of Charleston Avenue from the North margin of
Preble Street North to the South margin of Rodgers Street, as in said ord-
inance described; providing for the levying and assessing of the costs and
expenses thereof against the parcels and lots of land between the termini
and within the boundaries of said improvement district; providing-for the
collecttoh thereof; creating and establishing a special fund therefor and
fixing the date for the issuance of bonds in payment thereof.
BE IT 0RD,-NED BY THE CITY C05~,{ISSION OF THE CITY OF BR~ERTON AS FOLLOWS:
Section 1. That the assessment~roll for Local Improvement District No.
171,providing for the improvement of Charleston Avenue from the North margin
of Preble Street. North to the South margin of Rodgers Street, by clearing,
grubbing, grading, providing for the drainage thereof, together with the doing
of any and all other work in connection therewith as may be necessary to make
such improvement a complete Job, all in accordance with the plans~and specifi-
cations on file in the office of the City Clerk and as provided'by and described
in Ordinance No. 1187, be and the same is hereby approved and confirmed.
Section 2. That each parcel and lot of land o~ part thereof as shown in
said assessment roll is specially benefited by said improvements, and that
~ there be and hereby is assessed against each parcel and lot of land and part
thereof and other property contained in said improvement district as shown in
said roll, including the property belonging to the City of BremertOn, the
respective amounts in said roll set against each parcel or lot of and/or part
th6reof, and other property between the termini of said improvement abutting
upon, adjacent or proximate to said street, and such m~ounts so assessed, are
hereby declared to be first lien against each parcel or lot of land or par'b
thereof, against which the same is assessed in said roll.~
Section 3. %~at for the purpose of this said improvement there is hereby
created and established a special fund to be known and called "Local Improve-
ment ~'und, District No. ltl". Bonds shall be issued in serial nun~bers from
One to both inclusive, or so m~¥ as may be necessary to provide 'for
the uncollected portion of said special assessment due or owing in said district
on the date hereinafter fixed, the same to be in denominations of One Hundred
Dollars each, except the first, which shall be for such fractional'part of One
Hundred Dollars as may be remaining due and unpaid on said date, payable from
said "Local Improvement ~'und, District No. 171"..
Section 4. That the first day of October, 1938, be and the same'is hereby
fixed £or the date of the issuance and sale of the bonds to Se issued on
account of said improvement.
Section 5. 'Phis ordinance shall be in full force and effect thirty days
from and after its passage and publication as provided by law.
PASSED by the uity Commission, signed by .the Mayor and attested by the
City Clerk in authentication of such passage .this sixth day of August, 1938.
