AN 0RDIN~CE rel~ng to new electrical wiring in the City of Bremerton,
Washington, and amending Section 6 of Ordinance No. 1155, as amended by
Ordinance No. 1£~, said Ordinance No. 1153 being commonly known as the
"Electrical Ordinance" of the City of Bremerton.
BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY C0~flSSION OF THE CITY OF BRE~.~RTON AS
FOLLOWS:
Section 1. Section 6 of Ordinance No. 1153 as amended by Ordinance
No. 1222, is hereby amended to read as follows:
"Section 6. NEW WIRING IN FIRST, SECOND ~LND THIRD FIRE DISTRICTS,
AND CERTAIN OTHER BUILDINGS OUTSIDE SAID DISTRICTS.
All new wiring hereafter installed for heat, light or power
within the First, Second or Third Fire Districts of the City of
Bremerton, or in theatres, hospitals, assembly halls, publicly
owned and operated buildings, store buildings, hotel and apart-
ment houses containing more than two apartments outside said
districts and within the City of Bremerton, shall be encased in
rigid iron conduits, electric metallic tubing, cast-in place
raceways or under-floor ducts, except in the following cases:
1. On motor connections a flexible conduit or cable may
be used not to exceed two feet.
2. Extensions within a single room may be made in surface
metal raceways.
3. Where it is necessary to fish wires in the hollow spaces
of a building flexible conduit may be used.
Metallic sheathed cable, non-metallic sheathed cable, knob and
tube wiring and open wiring shall not be used in the First, Second
and Third Fire Districts nor in the buildings specifically referred to
in this Section. In buildings specially subject to moisture, such as
breweries, ice plants, creameries, or where the walls may be frequently
washed down with a hose, wire with rubber or other approved insulation
with a lead covering installed in rigid conduit shall be the method
used."
PASSED and approved by the City Commission of the City of Bremerton, signed
by two of the three City Commissioners, and attested by the City Clerk in
authentication of such passage, this 25th day of ~arch, 1939.
