AN ORDINANCE declaring an emergency to exist on account of the neod for
repairs, improvements and betterments to the Second Street l~larf and to the
First Street ~harf, and ap?ropriating funds to meet such emergency.
THE CITY OF BRE~ERTOM ~ES ORDAIN:
Section 1. That a public emergency exists in the City of Bremerton due
to the state of war now existing ~d the consequent continued influx in po,pula-
tion In the Oity of Bremerton ~d Kitsap County and the emergent need for repairs,
improvements ~d betterments ~o the Secon~ Street Ve~arf, according to the plan
or system referred to in Ordinance No. 1509, adopted by the Uity Council of the
City of Bremerton on December 2, 1942, ~d the emergent need for roofing and
painting the ~'irst Street %~arf, in order to provide necessary wha?fage and
dockage facilities in the City of Bremerton.
Section 2. That the said public emergency could not have been foreseen
at the time of making the budget for the year 19~5, and that the s~ of $1~,01~.8~
will be required to meet such emergency.
Section 3. That the ~ity Clerk is hereby authorized to execute emergency
warrants not exceeding the said s~, for payment of the expenses occasioned by
the said emergency.
Section 4. That the City Clerk is hereby instructed and directed to
publish a copy of this ordinance in the official city newspaper i~e~iately
following the approval of this ordinance on first reading.
Section B. After approval on first reading, this Ordinance shall be
read for final passage at the meeting of the City Council one week after the
date of its first reading.
Section 6. That an emergency exists which affects the p~blic peace,
health an8 safety and this ordin~ce sh~l take effect i~ediately following
passage and publication.
APPROVED un~imously by ~e City Council of the City of Bremerton, on
first reading, this l~th day of August, 1943.
PASSED un~imously by the City Council of the City of Bremerton, on final
reading, slg~ed by the ~ayor, an8 attested by the City Clerk in authentication
of such passage, this ~ day of August, 1943.
