A~! ORDINANCE prohibiting smoking in theaters, public transportation busses
and in buildings posted with "No Smoking" signs; providing penalties, and declaring
an emergency.
THE CITY OF BRE}~ERTON DOE~ ORDAIN:
Section 1. This ordinance is an exercise of the police power for the ~urpose
of abating the fire hazard occasioned by smoking in theaters, busses, an~ buildings
posted with "No Smoking" signs.
Section 2. It shall be unlawful to light or smoke a cigar, cigarette or a
pipe, o~ carry a lighted cigar, cigarette or a pipe, in any place in a theater ex-
cept in a rest room, lounge, or other space therein properly equipped with ash-
trays, and approved by the Fire Chic2 of tile City of Bremerton as a safe place
for smoking.
Section 3. It shall be unlawful to light' or smoke a cigar, cigarette or a
pipe, or carry a lighted cigar, cigarette or a pipe, on any .public transportation
bus in the City of Bremerton.
Section 4. It s awful to light or smoke a cigar, cioarette or a

in such building.
Section 5. Any person convicted of violating the provisions of 'this orSinance
shall be p~ished~by a fine not exceeding Three Hundred (.~ZO0.O0) Dollars, or by
imprisonment in the city jail for a oerio8 not exceeding thi~ty (~0) ~ays, or by
both such fine and imprisonment.
Section 8. An emergency exists affecting the public peace,i health and safety,
and this ordinance shall take effect immediately following passage and publication.
PASSED UNA~INOUSLY by the City Council of the City of Bremerton, signed by
the Nayor, and attested by the City Clerk inauthentication of such passage, this
