AN 0RDIN:~NCE declaring an emergency to exist on account of the need
for two additional policemen and an additional policewoman in the City of
Bremerton, and appropriating funds to meet such emergency.
THE CITY C0_~,~,~ISSION OF THE CITY OF BREtEERTON DOES ORDAIN AS FOLLOWS:
Section 1. That a public emergency exists in the City of Bremerton,
which could not reasonably have been foreseen at the time of making the
budget for the year 1940, in that, two additional policemen, at a monthly
salary of ~!50.00, and one policewoman, at a monthly salary of ~50.00, are
needed for the balance of the year 1940, starting R:ay 1, 1940, for public
safety and the adequate functioning of the police department in the pro-
tection of the lives and property of the inhabitants of the City of
Bremerton and the enforcement of the ordinances of the said city; and
approximately :~2800.00 more than the amount set up in the 1940 budget for
salaries for the police department will be necessary in order to employ
said additional police officers.
Section 2. That the sum of ~2800.00, or so much thereof as shall be
required to meet such emergency, is hereby appropriated, and the City Clerk
is hereby authorized and directed to issue emergency warrants not exceeding
the said sura, in payment of salaries especially occasioned by such emergency,

day of April, 1940.

by the l~fayor, and attested by the City Clerk in authentication of such
passage, this 29th day of April, 1940.
