AN ORDINANCE changing the name of Winfield Avenue between East llth
Street and East 8th Street; East 8th Street from Winfield Avenue to Ironsides
Avenue; Water Avenue from Ironsides Avenue to Trenton Avenue, and Shore Avenue
from Trenton Avenue to its northern boundary to Shore Drive; changing the
numbering system of the city blocks adjacent to said Shore Drive, and directin
that the owners of dwellings or other buildings in said blocks re-number the
same.
THE CITY C0t~ISSION OF THE CITY OF BR~ERTON DOES ORDAIN AS FOLLOWS:
Section 1. That the name of the following described streets and avenues
in the city of Bremerton be and are hereby changed to Shore Drive:
Winfield Avenue from East llth to East 8th Street; East 8th Street
from Winfield Avenue to Ironsides Avenue; Water Avenue from Ironsides
Avenue to Trenton Avenue, and Shore Avenue from Trenton Avenue to the
northern boundary of Shore Avenue,
it being the intent and purpose of this ordinance that Shore Drive shall be
one continuous public street, from the intersection of Winfield Avenue and
East llth Street to the northerly end of the present Shore Avenue, over and
along the route herein indicated.
Section 2. That the present numbering system, now in use, shall be and
is hereby discontinued and 'that the blocks adjacent to the new Shore Drive
shall be and are hereby numbered as follows, with odd numbers in those blocks
lying southwesterly, southerly and southeasterly of said Shore Drive, and
even numbers in those blocks lying northeasterly, northerly and northwesterly
of said Shore Drive, as follows:
On Shore'Drive, between East llth and East 10th Street, the 100 block;
between East 10th and East 9th Street, the 200 block; between East 9th
Street and East 8th Street, the 300 block;between East 8th Street and
tiayward Avenue, the 400 block; between Hayward Avenue and Ironsides
Avenue, the 500 block; between Ironsides Avenue and Nipsic Avenue, the
600 block; between Nipsic Avenue and Vandalia Avenue, the 700 blogk;
between Vandalia Avenue and Trenton Avenue, the 800 block; between
Trenton Avenue and East llth Street, the 900 and 1000 block; between
East llth and the north end of Shore Drive, the ll00 and 1200 block.
Section 3. Persons owning or occupying homes or buildings adjacent to
the said Shore Drive, shall re-n~mber said homes and buildings wherever
necessary; and that the city engineer shall render all reasonable assistance
to assist in the numbering of said homes and buildings correctly.
Section 4. That an emergency exists and that this ordinance is necessary
for the public safety of the city of Bremerton and shall take effect in~ed-
lately upon its passage and publication.
PASSED by the City Commission of the City of Bremerton, signed by the
Mayor, and attested by the City Clerk in authentication of such passage this
17th day of April, 1940.
