HomeMy WebLinkAbout1411 0RDYNANCE N0. 1All AN ORDINANCE declaring an emergency to exist on account of the lack of garage space for ~ehicles of the street and water department, and app- ropriating funds to meet such emergency. THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF BREMERTON ORDAINS AS FOLLOWS: Section 1. That a public emergency exists in the City of Bremerton which could not reasonably have been foreseen at the time of making the budget for the year 1941, in that, due to the increase in population of the City of Bremerton, on account of national defense activities, it has been necessary to acquire additional vehicles for the street department and for the water department, and there is no saf~ or adequate place to keep such vehicles when they are not in use. Section 2. That on account of said emergency, it is necessary and advisable that the City of Bremerton proceed immediately to construct an addition to the Municipal Garage on Warren Avenue, on the south side there- of, and the City Engineer is hereby directed to engage workmen and to construct such addition by day labor at a cost not in excess of Five Thousand Five Hundred Dollars. Section 3. That the sum of Five Thousand Five Hundred Dollars or so much thereof as may be necessary to meet said emergency is hereby appro- priated and the City ClerE is hereby authorized and directed to issue emergency warrants not exceeding the said sum, in payment of such expense. Section 4. That an emergency exists in the City of Bremerton affect- ing the peace, health and safety thereof, and this ordinance shall take effect immediately upon final passage and publication. PASSED by the City Commission of the City of Bremerton on first read- ing this 27th day of August, 1941.
