AN ORDINANCE declaring an emergency to exist in connection
with the protection of public health in the City of Bremerton
and appropriating funds to meet such emergency.
THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF BREMERTON ORDAINS AS
FOLLOWS:
Section 1. That a public emergency exists in the City of
Bremerton, which could not reasonably have been foreseen at the
time of making the budget for the year 19Al, in that the great
increase in the population of the City, due to the national
defense emergency, has created numerous hazards to public health,
and the City of Bremerton in order to protect the public health,
on March. 26, 1941, at a regular meeting of the said Commission,
entered into a joint agreement with the State of Washington and
the County of Kitsap for a PUblic Health Service, and agreed to
provide as its share of the expense of such Public Health Service,
the sum of Twenty-three hundred dollars ($2300.00) per annum.
Section 2. That it will be necessary to expend the total sum
of Eleven hundred fifty dollars ($11§0.00) during the period from
~uly 1, 1941, to and including December 31, 1941, to meet such
emergency, and the City Clerk is hereby authorized and directed
to issue emergency warrants for payment of the expenses occ4stoned
by such emergency for the period from July 1, 1941, to and includ-
ing December $1, 1941, in the total sum of Eleven hundred fifty
dollars ($11§0.00).
Section S. That an emergency exists and th~s ordinance is
immediately necessary for the preservation of public peace,
health and safety in the City of Bremerton, and shall take effect
immediately upon final passage and publication.
APPROVED unanimously by the City Commission of the City of
Bremerton on first reading, this 16th day of July, 1941.
PASSED unanimously by the City Commission of the City of
Bremerton, signed by the Mayor and attested by the City Clerk in
authentication of such passage, this 23rd day of July, 1941.
