AN ORDINANCE declaring an emergency to exist on account of the n~cessity of
the purchase of a used truck for the fire department ~nd a used three-wheel
motorcycl~ for. the water department, and appropriating f~mds to meet such emergency.
THE CITY COTUfISSION OF PHE CI'~Y OF BREMERTON ORDAINS AS FOI,I.OWS:
Section 1. That an emergency exists in the City of Bremerton that could not
have been foreseen at the time of making thP~ budget for the year 1942, in that a
state of war ~xtsts, an unprecedented increase in population has come into the
city of Br~merton, an~ the fir~ department is in urgent need of a used truck in
order that Pmergency fire equipment to be furnished by th~ United States of
America on account of civilian ~efense needs, which must be procure~ before such
P, qufpment will be d~livered by th~ United States Government; also that the water
department is no longer able to secure a meter reader who will use his own car
on account of th~ shortage of tires an5 it is n~cessary to procure a used thr~-
wheel motorcycle for the use of a city meter reader, or to employ an additional
person or persons for the purpos~ of reading meters.
Section 2. ~I~_~at approximately ;~600.00 w:lli b, reeuired for the purchase of
said used truck for the fire department, and approximately ~i~800.00 will be required
for the purchase of sai~ three-wheel motorcycle for the water department, and
that the total s~nm of ~1200.00 is hereby appropriated, an~ th~ City Clerk is
hereby authorize~ to issue emergency warrants, upon receipt an~, acceptance of
bids by the City Commission, accor~_~ng to law, tc the successful bidders, for
the purchase of a used truck for tlhe fir~ d~partment in a sum n t exceeding j:600.O0.
S~ction 3. That an emergency exists affecting th~ public peace, health and
safety, and Chis ordinance shall take effect immediately following passage and
publication.
APPROVED unanimously by the City Conmn~ssion of th, City of Brem~rton, on
first r,ading, this 8th day of October, 194~.
PASSED unanimously by the City Commission of th~ City of Brem~rton, on
final reading, signed by 'the Mayor, and &tteste~ by th~ City Cl~rk in authentica-
