AN ORDINANCE amending Seotions 10 and 11 of Ordinance No. 875, of the City of
Bremerton, entitled: "An Ordinance relating to pl~.nmbing; providing for the examin-
ation and licensing of Journe~man plumbers, an8 for the licensing, registration
an8 bonding of master pl~nubers; creating an Examining Board for Journeyman Plumbers;
~efining offenses and providing penalties for violation hereof.
THE CITY CO~M!SSTON OF ~-~E CIT~g OF BRE~.~ERTON ORDAINS AS FOLLOWS:
Section 1. That Section 10, of Ordinance No. 87~, of the City of Bremerton,
passed J~n~e 6, 19~°8, be and the said section is hereby amended to read as follows:
Section 10. EXCEPTIONS FOR OWNERS AND OCCUPANTS.
The phovist.ons of this ordinance shall not be construe~ to prevent the owner
or occupant of any residence or building, or any member of his family, from
performing pl~ubing or pl~m~bing work in or about such residence or building
for which no permit is require~ by law, without the certificate of competency
or license required by this ordinance, .If, however, the work involved is of
such character as to require a pe~it, such owner or member of his f~ily,
who is to perform such work, shall appear before the Chief Pl~bing Inspector
and show to the satisfaction of said inspector that he has sufficient know-
ledge to properly perform such pl~blng work an8 further providing that no
opening shall be made in ~y public street, sidewalk, alley, or other public
place, for the purpose of doing pl~mbing work, or making or bre~ing any
connection with a public or private mewer, except by a licensed an8 bon~ed
master plumber, his agent or employee, or by a licensed an8 bonded sewer con-
tractor, and further provided that the provisio~ of Ordi~nce No. 10~3 of
the City of Bremerton, passe8 April l~, 1935, are not ~ende(~ by this ordin-
ance, and it shall be unlawful to brea~ any pavement on any street, sidewalk,
alley, or other public place in the city of Bremerton, except ~der and pur-
suant to the provisions of said Ordinance No. 1053. A Master Pl~ber shall
not be require8 to post a sewer contractor's bond, as provide8 by Section 4,
of Ordinance No. 14~6 as ~ended.
Section 2. That Section ll of Ordin~ce No. 878 of the City of Bremerton,
passed June 6, 19~8, be and the said Section is hereby ~ended to read as follows:
Section ll. MASTER PLUMBERS SURETY BOND.
The Surety bond required of master pl~bers by Section 8 of this ordinance
shall be in the s~ of Two Thousan~ (~E~O00.O0) ~llars, for each establish-
ment or place of business maintained by'any person, fi~ or corporation, ~.s
master pl~ber, running to the City of Bremerton, for the use and benefit of
said city an~ Of ~y an8 all persons who may deal with or may be d~aged or
injured by the licensee or his agent in connection with work done by said
master pl~ber or his agents, an~ shall be executed by the applicant an8 by
a surety company authorized to 8o business in the state of Washington. Said
bond shall be conditioned that the licensee and his agents shall fully co~ply
with all provisions of the law relating to pl~bing, ~ that any person
injured or d~aged by failure to comply therewith, or by carelessness or
negligence in connection with such wor~, may have a right of action on said
bond in his own n~e, and that the principal ~ surety shall pay all Judg-
ments recovered against the principal for. any violation of or failure to
comply with said provisions of law., ~or~for carelessness or negligence result-
ing in injury or d~age, provide~ however that such action must be co~enced
within one year after the completion of the work, and further provided that
the surety on such bond shall not.be l~able thereunder to ~y one person'in
excess of ~o ~ousand ($~,000.00) Dollars.
Section ~. This ordinance shall be in full force ~d effect thirty (~0) days
after its passage and publication.

and attested by the City Clerk in authentication of such passage, this ~nd day
