AN ORDINANCE amending Section 4 of Ordinance No. 1456, of the city of Bremerton,
entitled: "An Ordinance relating to sewers and the drainage of private premises
and the removal of obstructions therefrom; reg~llating the planting of certain trees
and shrubs in proximity thereto; prescribing the method for lateral sewer connections,.
alterations, repairs and extensions, and the opening and penetration of public sewers,
and for collecting the cost thereof; providing penalties; and repealing all other
ordinances or parts thereof in conflict herewith."
THE CITY COM~.ISSION OF THE CITY OF ERE~.IERTON ORDAINS AS FOLLOWS:
Section 1. That' Section 4, of Ordinance No. 1458, entitled as fully set forth
in the title to this Ordinance~ be and the said Section .t is hereby amended to read
as follows:
"Section 4.' Opening publf, c sewer, License and permit Required.
It shall be unlawful for any person to make any opening in any public sewer
or drain, or connect any private sewer or drain therewith, without c~mplying
with all of the provisions of this ordinance in relation thereto, without
securing a permit so to do from the City Engineer's office and without having
a valid and subsisting Sewer Contractor's License. Any person desiring a
"sewer contractor's l~cense" shall make application therefor in writing to
the City Engineer for approval, and before the issuance of such license the
applicant therefor shall file with the City Clerk a bond in the sum of ~00.00,
conditioned that the applicant will indemnify and save harmless the City of Brem-
erton from all claims, aCtions or damages of every kln~ and description which
shall accrue to or be suffered by any person by reason of any opening in any
street, alley, or other public place, made by him or those in his employ, for
any.purpose or object whatsoever, and that he will replace and restore such
street, alley, or other public place to as good a state and condition as at
the commencement of said work. No fee shall be required of the applicant for
such "sewer contractor's license," provided however that a regularly licensed
~aster Pl~nber, having on file a surety bond as provided by Ordinance No. 875
of the City of Bremerton, as amended, shall be entitled to make openings in
the public streets, alleys and other public places w~thout qualifying as a
sewer contractor an8 without posting the bond referred to herein, after having
obtained a permit so to do.
PASSED by th~ City Commission of the City of Bremerton, signed 1~y the Mayor
and attested by the City Clerk in authentication of such passage, this ~nd day of
