AN ORDINANCE prow~ding for licensing the playing of music for hire,
repealing Ordinance No. !~, providing penalties, and declaring an emergency.
THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF BREMERTON DOES ORDAIN AS FOLLOWS:
Section 1. It shall be unlawful for the proprietor of any restaurant,
tavern or other public place or establishment in the City of Bremerton, to
allow the playing of records or music therein by mechanical means or other-
wise for a fee to be charged patron of such establishment desiring such
music to be played, without having obtained a "For Hire" music license as
hereinafter provided.
Section ~. The fee for such license shall be Twelve Dollars and Fifty
Cents ($1~.$O) ~er annum, payable annually in advance on the 1st day of July
of each year, shall be issueU by the City Clerk on the application of the
proprietor of the place or establishment sought to be licensed and shall run
to the applicant and the place of business sought to be licensed. S~ch
license shall not be transferred without the consent of the City Co~nission.
Section ~. Ordinance No. 1~6~ of the City of Bremerton is hereby
repealed, provided that any person having secured a license for the operation
of a coin-in-the-slot music vending device pursuant to the terms of said
ordinance for the ~iscal year ending June 30, 194~, shall be issued a "For
Hire" music license without charge to June ~O, 1942 on surrendering the
license previously issued under said Ordinance No. 1~62.
Section 4. No reduction in the license fee shall be made by the City
Clerk for the issuance of licenses expiring less than one year from the
date of issuance.
Section $. Violation of any of the provisions of this ordinance shall
be punishable by a fine not exceeding One Hundred ($100.00) Dollars, or by
imprisonment in the City Jail not exceeUing thirty (~0) days, or by both
such fine and imprisonment.
Section 6. That an emergency e~ists which affects the public peace,
health and safety of the City of Bremerton, and this ordinance shall become
effective upon passage and publication.
