AN ORDINANCE DECLARING an emergency to exist on account of the
necessity for additional legal services for the City of Bremerton, appro-
priating funds to meet such an emergency and creating the position of
Assistant City Attorney.
THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF BREMERTON 0RDAI~S AS FOLLOWS:
Section 1. That an emergency exists in the City of Bremerton, which
could not reasonably have been foreseen at the time of the adoption of
th~ budget for the year 1942, in that the state of war now existing, and.
the tremendous and unprecedented infh~x of population on account of the
national defense emergency and the said state of war, have created
unexpected and unprecedented demands for legal services for and on behalf
of the City of Bremerton.
Section Z. That the sum of Three Hundred (~00.00) Dollars will be
required to meet such emergency for the purpose of paying the salary of
an Assistant City Attorney at the rate. of twenty-five (~8.00) Dollars per
month, beginning as of January 1, 1~42, and there is hereby appropriated
said s~n of Three Hundred (~00.00) Dollars and the City Clerk is hereby
authorized and directed to issue emergency warrants in pa~nent of such
salary, at the rate of twenty-five (~25.00) dollars per month.
Section ~. That the position of Assistant City Attorney is hereby
created, ~d the City Attorney is hereby directed to appoint an Assistant
City Attorney, subject to the approval of the City Commission, who shall
take oath and qualify by posting an official bond in the sum of ~t,O00.00,
premium for which shall be paid from the City Attorney's budget.
Section 4. An emergency exists affecting the public peace, health
and safety, and this ordinance shall take effect immediately following
passage and publication.
APPROVED unanimously by the City Co~mnission on first reading,. this
7th day of January, l~4Z.
PASSED unanimously by the City Commission of the C~ty of Bremerton,
on final reading, signed by the ~[ayor, and attested by the City Clerk in
authentication of such passage, this 14th day of January, 194Z.
