AN ORDINANCE declaring an emergency to exist on account of the need for
a deputy city clerk, and appropriating funds to meet such emergency.
THE CITY OF BRF~ERTON DOES ORDAIN:
Section 1. That a public emergency exists in the City of Bremerton due to
the state of war now existing and the consequent continued influx in population
and due to the increased duties devolving upon the several offices of city
government in the City of Bremerton and particularly the office of the City
Clerk, and that it is necessary to add an additional deputy city clerk to the
staff of the clerk's oI'fice; now therefore, an additional position of deputy city
clerk be and the same is hereby created.
Section 2. That the sum of $2?00.00 will be required to meet such emerg-
ency for payment of salary of such additional deputy city clerk, during the
year 1948, commencing as of January 1, 1945; that the said public emergency
could not have been foreseen at the time of making the budget for the year
1948; that the said sum of $2?00.00 is hereby appropriated and the City Clerk
is hereby authorized to execute emergency warrants not exceeding the said sum
in payment of the additional amount required for the deputy city clerk at the
rate of $22B.00 per month from the 1st day of January, 1948, to and including
the month of December,
Section 5. That the City Clerk is hereby instructed and directed to pub-
lish a copy of this ordinance in the official city newspaper immediately follow-
ing the~approval of this ordinance on first reading.
Section 4. This ordinance shall be read for final passage at the meeting
of the City Council one week after the date of its first reading.
Section '8. That an emergency exists which affects the public peace,
health and safety of the City of Bremerton, and this ordinance shall take effect
immediately on passage and publication.
APPROVED unanimously by the City Council of the City of Bremerton, on
first reading, this 2?th day of December, 19~.
PASSED unanimously by the City Council of the City of Bremerton, signed by
the Nayor, and attested by the City Clerk in authentication of such passage,
this 5rd day of January, 1948.
