PETITION FOR PROPOSED INITIATIVE ORDINANCE NO. 1 INCRF~ING THE SALARIES
OF THE SEVERAL OFFICERS AND EMPLOYEES OF THE FIRE DEPARTMENT AND POLICE
DEPARTMENT OF THE CITY OF BREMERTON AND REPEALING ORDINANCES NO. 800 AND 801
AND ALL OTHER ORDINANCES AND PARTS OF ORDINANCES IN CONFLICT THEREWITH.
To The City Commission of the City of Bremerton:
We, the undersigned, registered voters of the City of Bremerton, request
that the following ordinance hereto attached be passed by the City Commission
or be submitted to the qualified electors of the City of Bremerton at a special
municipal election as provided in Sections 46, 47, 48 and 80, Article 15 of
the City Charter of the City of Bremerton, for their approval or rejection.
AN ORDINANCE PROVIDING FOR INCREASE IN THE SALARIES OF THE SEVERAL°
OFFICERS AND EMPLOYEES OF THE FIRE DEPARTMENT AND POLICE DEPARTMENT OF THE
CITY OF BREMERTON AND REPEALING ORDINANCES NO. 800, 801 AND ALL OTHER ORDINANCE
AND PARTS OF ORDINANCES CONFLICTING HEREWITH.
WHEREAS, the defense program being carried on in the Puget Sound Navy Yard
has caused the construction of many new buildings in the City of Bremerton and
as a result of said increase in defense plant many new people are making and
will be making their homes in Bremerton; and
WHEREAS, the expansion of industries and population increases the fire
hazard and the need of further police protection and will subject said Fire
Department and Police Department of the City of Bremerton and employees thereof
to greater burdens; now, therefore:
THE CITY OF BR~TON DOES ORDAIN AS FOLLOWS:
Section 1. From and after the date of the adoption of this ordinance,
the compensation to be paid to the.several officers and employees of the
division of the Fire Department and of the Police department shall be not less
than as follows:

Section 2. That Ordinances No. 800 and 801 and all other ordinances and
parts of ordinances in conflict herewith are hereby repealed.
Section 5. This--e.~inance shall be in full fOrce from and after its
passage~ and.~ation as provided by law.
