AN ORDINANCE declaring an emergency Co exist on account of the necessity
of having a watchman in attendance at the city cemetery, and appropriating
funds 'to meet such emergency.
THE CITY OF BREMERTCN DOES ORDAIN:
Section 1. That a public emerge~c'y exists in the City of Bremerton due
to the state of war with the Axis Powers, the consequent an~ continued influx
of population in the City of Bre~erton, receipt acts of vandals in overturning
gravestones in the City ce.metery an~ t~,e prevalence of other unlawfu,.! acts in
~nd about the city cemetery), which makes it necessary to a~propriate funds to
move the frame building, belonging to the city, from the ~ar~.en ~,venue Play-
field to the city cemetery, and to repsir anc~ alter the same so that ~n can
be used as living quarters for a wa~c~man snd sexton with an adjoinir_g garage
to house city automotive equipment, all in order to protect the public
~roperty and the puOlic peace, health and safety of the City of Bremerton.
Section ~. That the said public emergency coul5 not have been foreseen
at the time of making the budget for the year !944,
Section 3. ~hat the sum of ~1500.00 for the Cemetery Department will be
required to meet such emergency and the said sum is hereby appropriated, amd
the City Clerk is hereby authorized to execute emergency warrants not exceeding
said stun in payment of the expense occasioned by such emergency.
Section 4. That the City Clerk is hereby instr~.~cted and directed tS
publish s copy of this ordinance in the eff.~cial city newspaper l~nediately
following the approval of this ordinance on first rea~ing.
Section 5. If approved on first readying, this ordinmnce shall be read
for final passage at the meeting of the Git[~ Council one week after the date
of its first reading.
Section 6. That sn emergency exists which affect~ the public peace,
health and safety of' the City of Bremerton, and this ordinance shall take
effect immediately on passage and publica~tion.
APPROVED unanimously by the City Council of the City of Bremerton, on
first reading, this 12th day of April, 1944.
PASSED unanimously by the City Council of the City of Eremerton, signed
