AN ORDIND~NCE ~ec!aring an emergency to exist on account of the omission from
the 1945 Budget of an amount necessary to complete the FIRE ALARM SYSTEM, and
appropriating funds to meet said emergency.
THE CITY OF BREMERTON ..DOES ORDAIN:
Section ]. That a public emergency exists in the City of Bremerton in that
it became necessary on account of the state of war now existing and the conse-
quent increase in the population of the City of Bremerton to c°nstPuct a Fire
Alarm System for the preservation of public safety, an~ Federal funds allocated
to the City of Bremerton for the construction of said Fire Alarm System have
proven inadequate to pay the entire cost thereof; that the City of Bremerton
appointed the Housing Authority of the City of Bremerton its agent an~ representa-
tive in connection with the construction of sa!,c~, Fire Al~rm System, and that the
report of the Housing Authority of the C~ty of Bremerton shows that it will be
necessary for the City of Bremerton to appropriate ~1732.0V in order to pay that
part of the cost of the Fire Alarm System not covered by the Federal grant; that
the sat~ emergency could not ~ave been foreseen at the time of making the budget
for the year 1945, and that the City is legally liable for the pay~aent of the
said sum.
Section o~. That the sum of ~1732.07 is hereby appropriated and the City
Clerk is hereby authorized to issue emergency warrant or warrants not exceeding
said stum in payment of the expense of said emergency.
Section 3. 2~aat the City Clerk is hereby instructed and directed to publish
a copy of this ordinance in the official city newspaper immediately following
the approval of this ordinance on first reading.
Section 4. If approved on first reading, this ordinance shall be rea~ for
final passage at the meeting of the City Council one week after the date of its
first reading.
Section 5. That an emergency exists which affects the public peace, bee!th
and safety of the City of Bremerton, an~ this ordinance shall take effect imme~-
iately on passage and publication.
APPROVED unanimously by the City Council of the City of Bremerton on first
reading, this l?th day of January, 1945.
PASSED unanimously by the City Council of the 'City of Bremerton, signed by
the Mayor and attested by the City Clerk in authentication of such passage,
this 24th day of January, 1945.
