struction of a ~.der entrance, additional exits and general repairs at Roosevelt Field;
and appropriating funds to meet such emergency.
THE CITY OF BRE~ERTON DOES ORJDAIN:
Section 1. That a public emergency exists in the City of Bremerton due to the
fact that areangements have been consummated for the use of Roosevelt Field for pro-
fessional baseball during the 19~6 baseball season; it is expected that Roosevelt Field
will be put to greater use by larger crowds than heretofore, and it is urgently necess-
ary in order to abate the fire hazard and in the interest of public safety that the en-
trance to Roosevelt Field be widened, additional exits be consturcted and that miscell-
aneous alterations and improvements, including the painting of the grandst~%ds~ be
undertaken prior to the co~nencement of the baseball season.
Section 2. That said public emergency could not have been foreseen at the time of
making the ~udget for the year 19h6; that -an appropriation was made for the year 19h6
in the city budget for painting the grandstands in said Roosevelt Field but that the
City was unable to get the painting completed and the appropriation lapsed and reverted
to the General Fund of the City of Bremerton, and the monies therefore are in the
General Fund at the present time.
Section 3. That the total s~un of .~3,000.00 will be required to meet such emergency
which said sum is hereby appropriated, and the ~,~ayor and City Clerk are hereby authorize.
and directed to issue emergency warrants not exceeding said sum in payment of the ex-
penses occasioned by such emergency.
Section ~. That the City Clerk is hereby instructed and directedt~ publish a copy
of this ordinance in the official City newspaper i~mediately following the approval of
this ordinance on first reading.
Section ~. If this ordinance is unanismously approved on first reading., it shall
be read for final passage one week after the date of its first reading.
Section 6. That an emerge:~cy exists which affedts the public peace, health and
safety in the City of Bremerton, and this ordinance shall take effect i~]~ediately
following passage and publication.
