AN ORDINANCE roaming an appropriation for the taking of a census providing
for pa~ent of salaries and wages and for Operation and I¥[aintenance anti declarin~
an emergency.
THE CITY 0F BRE~:IERTON ~ES ORDAIN:
Section 1. The Legislature of the State of ~ashington touring its 1947
Session having adopted Chapter 51, an Act creating a State Census Board, which
Board is empowered by law to ~etermine the population of the cities an~l towns of
the State of Washington for the purpose of allocating monies appropriated for
the use of said cities anm towns by the Legislature, it appears that the City of
Bremerton, in order to determine accurately the n~ber of people resid~ug ia its
limits should make an actual count of such mersons.
Section 2. In order to make the count and take a census within the City
of Bremerton, it is necessary to retain competent personnel for that purpose, an~
to pay salaries anm wages, and the cost of maintenance and operation, which ex-
penditures could not have been foreseen at the time the 1947 Budget was adopted.
Section 3. An emergency is hereby declared to exist which makes it im-
perative that the City Council appropriate the s~m~ of Four Thousand [~llars
(~4000.00), for the purpose of taking a census, and there is hereby appropriated
that certain ~o~t to be expended as follows:
SALARIES AN~ WAGES
Supervisor of Census at ~30.00 per day ~ 450.00
2 Asset. Supervisors at ~15.00 per day 400.00
Total ~ 850.00

Traveling Expenses for Supervisors & Ass'ts. ~0.00

Section 4. This Ordinance is necessary for the preservation of the
public health, safety and welfare of the City of Bremerton, and shall take effect
i~ediately upon passage and publication.
