AN 0./.DINAIICE providing for the expenditure o£' funds for which no provision
was made in the 1948 budget, and relating to expenditures in the Fire i)epart-
ment, Executive Offices of the City Hall, Garbage Department and Street Depart-
ment and declaring an emergency.

Section 1. The 1948 budget does not conatir~ sufficient provision for the
pa~tent of a salary for the I~iayor's Secretary du~?in6 the entire year or for the
pa~ent of salaries for twenty drivers in the Fire Department, or for the opera-
tion and maintenance and repair of one ol" the ladder trucks in the Fire Department
or for lighting the C$ty Hall or foz' pa~r~ent of salaries of twelve dl-'ivers and
twelve helpers in the Garbage Depart~ent, or for maintenance a~d operation of
automotive equipment of the Garbage Department, o~· fo~· oa~nent o~' salaries of
tr~ck drivers and operators oz' heavy equipment a~d helpers in the Street Depart-
ment.
Section 2. That an emergency e~ists which could not reasonably have been
forseen at th~: time oz' preparation of tha b~d6et for the calendar year by reason
of lack of f~mds to mai~tain essential City operations~ ~d that it is estimated
that expenditures will be requir~d
