AN O~LDINANCE relating to gaines or shuz~fleboard, providing for the lic-
ensing thereof auld providing penalties.
THE CITY OF BREb.~ERTON ~ES ORDAIN:
S~ction 1. It shall b~ unlawful for any p~rson, firm or corporation to
op~rat~ or maintain for hir~ any g~e of shuffleboard in the City of Bremerton
without having first obtained from th~ ~ity ~lerk a license to so do. The
for such lic~ns~ shall 0~ ~10.00 per y~ar for ~ach shuffi~board an~ shall be
applied for and issued in th~ n~e of the f~erson, f~ or corporation operat-
ing th~ ~stablis]~m~ent in which such shuffleboard is maintained and shall b~
valid only in such ~stablis~ent. S~id license shall not b~ transferred ~x-
c~pt in cas~ of a bona i'id~ sal~ of th~ business conmuct~d by such !ic~nse~
within such ~stablisl~aent.
Section ~. Any p~rson d~siring to apply for such lioens~ shall file
written application with the ~ity ~l~rk an~ th~ ~ity ~l~rk shall forthwith d~-
liver said application to th~ Chief or Polic~ who, within t~n days ~h~reof,
shall, in writing, enmors~ ~hereon either his approval or disapproval. Said
application shall b~ returnem to the City Clerk who thereupon shall present
the s~e to the City Council for final approval or disapproval. Sai~ applica-
tion shall be granted by th~ Council whenever it appears that such licens~
would b~ in the interest of the public p~ac~, h~alth, safety ~d morals, and,
for the purpos~ of making suck d~termination, th~ Co~cil may order a public
h~aring of th~ application to b~ held, in which event all interested p~rties
shall b~ glv~n an opport~ity to a~p~ar ~fore th~ Co~cil. Upon approval of
th~ City Co~cil anm upon proof or pa~aent o~' th~ fe~ thereof to the City
Treasurer, th~ City Cl~rk shall issue the license.
S~ction $. Any person violating ~y of th~ provisions of 'this ordinanc~
shall b~ guilty or a misdemeanor anal upon conviction shall be p~ished by a
fin~ not to exceed ~00.00 or by imprisonment in the City Jail for not to ~x-
ce~d ninety (90) days or by both such fin~ and impriso~nt.
