AN ORDINANCE appropriating funds for the holding of a special
election not provided for in the oudget for the calendar year 1951,
and declaring an emergency.
THE CITY OF BREI¥~ERTON DOES ORDAIN:
Section 1. That since the adoption or a budget for the calendar
year 1951, the City Council, has by resolution, called rot the holding
of a special election to be held on February 5, 1951, to consider a
referendum proposal on Ordinance No. 1900, providing for the levying
and collection of ~a business and occupation tax in the City of Bremer-
ton, said rei'erendum~having been submitted by petition or the electors
of the City and that it is estimated that an expenditure oi' the amount
cZ' Five Hm~dred (~500.00) Dollars, will be necessary in order to pay
the necessary and incidental costs cZ' holding said special election.
That this expenditure oI~ Z'unds and the necessity therei'or could not have
been reasona01y foreseen at the time or the preparation of the budget
for the calendar year l~51, and that by reason 6f the requirement that
a special election be held to consider said referend~n an emergency~,s~s
and there are no funds to pay the necessary and incidental costs oi' the
said special election and that the sum of Five Hundred ($500.00). Dollars,
iS hereby appropriated for payment of the usual and necessary costs of
holding such special election.
Section 2. That by reason of the requirement that a special elec-
tion be held upon which the electors cZ' the City of Bremerton may vote,
as required by the Charter oS' said City, an emergency exists which ef-
fects the pu01ic peace, health and sa~'ety of the City of Bremerton and
its citizens, and this ordinance shall be effective immediately upon
passage and publication.
PASSED unanimously by the City Council of the City of Bremerton,
signed by the Mayor and attested by the City Clerk in authentication
o~' such passage this 17th day of January, lU51.
