AN ORDINANCE providing i'or the saf'eguarding of life and property by pro-
hibiting the sale, rental or disposa± of sub-standard and unsafe electrical
materials, devices and appliances, and amending Section 5 oI' Ordinance 1658.
THE CITY OF BRE~'~ERTON ~DOES ORDAIN:
Section 1. 'l'hat Section 3 of Ordinance No. 1638 be and the same hereby
is amended to read as follows:
Section 3. APPROVALS:
(a) All electrical materials, devices and appliances covered by
and intended to be regulated by.is ordinance shall conI'o~ to
standards established by the Underwriters Laboratories, Inc.
or other recognized testing laboratory and listing or labelling
by such laboratory shall be prima facie evidence of conformity
with required standards.
(b) '~here no such standards exist I'or any mdterial, device
or appliance, the Chief Electrical Inspector may designat~ a
standard f'or each such article submitted, which shall specif'y
the tests necessary to provide the degree of saI'ety to
and property as are generally required anti used by such
recognized 'testing iaOoratories for approved materials, devices
or appliances oi' a similar or related character or nature.
