AN OHDINANCE relating to the closing of streets to vehicular
traffic, prohibiting the use of streets and/or imposing weight
limits on vehicles during certain climatic and other conditions,
and providing penalties for violations thereof.
THE CITY OF BREUERTON DOES ORDAIN:
Section 1. Whenever in the opinion of the Commissioner of
Public Works and Utilities any or the public streets or ways with-
in the City of Bremerton may be seriously d~aged or destroyed by
reason oz' rain, snow, climatic or other conditions, said street
or way or portion thereol' may be closed to vehicular traffic of
all kinds or limits as to the weight of said vehicles may be im-
posed.
Section 2. Such closure of any street or way or portion
thereof or the imposition o£ limitations upon the weight or any
vehicle using said street or way or portion thereof shall be ef-
fective upon one publication of a notice in the official City
newspaper describing the streets or ways which are subject to
closure and/or weight limitation, and i'or the time such restric-
tion shall be in force and by placing signs oS* such closure or
weight restriction on such street or streets.
Section 5. Any person driving or operating any vehicle upon
any suQh street closed to vehicular trarI~ic or driving or operat-
ing a vehicle in excess oI' the weighb limits described in said
notice on such street or streets shall be deemed guilty of a
misdemeanor and upon conviction shall be punished by fine not to
exceed ~500.00 or by imprisonment in the city jail for not more
than 90 days or by both such fine and imprisonment.
APPROVED by the City Council on first reading the 50th day
of January, 1952.
PASSED on second reading, signed by the Nayor and attested by
the City Clerk in authentication of such passage this 6th day of
February, 1952.
