AN ORDINANCE relating to the retirement and pension system for City
Employees, fixing rates of contribution ther~to and providing for the ad-
justment thereof, amending paragraph c, Section 7 and adding a new Sec-
tion 12-b to Ordinance No. 1572, as amended by Ordinance No. 2152 and de-
claring an emergency.
THE CITY OF BRE~:~ERTON DOES ORDAIN:
Section 1. That paragraph c of Section 7 of Ordinance No. 1572 as
amended by Ordinance No. 2152 is hereby amended t..~' read as follows:
Section 7-0. At the end of each payroll period, the board shall ~e-
termine ti~e aggregate amount of the normal contributions for such period,
and shall certify such aggregate to the City Cl~:rk anft the City Council
and the Cler~ shall t. hereupon transfer to the retirement fund hereinafter
provided for, from the money appropriated for. that purpose in the ~udget
for the fiscal year, an amount equal to the aggre~zate noi~mal contributions
for the pe?iod received f~om members except when the Board ~eco~'~nends in
writing prio~· to the adoption of the budget for any ensuing year or at
the time any certificate is prepared and delivered as provided herein for
a d~fferent contribution by the City and said reconwnendation is approved
and adopted by resolution of the City Council.
Section 2. That Section 12 of Ordinance No. 1572 as amended by Ord-
inance ~o. 2152 is hereby amended by adding thereto a new section entitl-
ed paragraph b, Section 12, t:: read as follows:
Section 12-b. In the event t~e amount of city matching funds releas-
ed and retained by' the system toward meeting the obligations of' the City
on account of prior services exceeds the total prior service obli~_~ations
of the City, such e~cess may be used in lieu of th curre~t City matching.
Section 3. That an emergency exists affectino the public peace,
health,, safety an~] welfare of the citizens of the City of Bremerton, and
this Ordinance s~lall take effect immediately' following passage and publi-
cation.
