AN ORDINANCE appropriating funds for the conducting of spec-
ial elections not provided for in the budget in the calander year
of 1957, and declaring an emergency.
THE CITY OF BRE~,~ERTON DOES ORDAIN:
Section 1. That subsequent to the adoption of the budget
of the cRtande~ year of 1957, three areas adjacent to the City
of Bremerton petitioned the County Commissioners to conduct an
election to determine whether or not these areas should be an-
nexed to the City of Bremerton; that said petitions were granted
and that the el ctions were held at a cost to the City of Bremer-
ton of $241.99; that at the time of the adoption of said budget
it could not have been reasonably forseen that these special
elections would be called by the petition of electors and there
are no funds to pay the costs of conducting said election and
there is hereby appropriated 'the sum of ~241.99 to pay the Kit-
sap County Auditor the costs incurred in said elections.
Section 2. That the calling of these elections by petition
could not have been reasonably forseen at the time of the adopt-
ion of the bndget and the costs of conducting said elections are
imposed upon the City concerned by R.C.W. $5.1Z.020.
Section 3. That there exists and is hereby declared to exist
an emergency and this ordinance is necessary for the immediate
preservation of the public peace, health, and safety of the citi-
zens of Bremerton and shall be in full force and effect immediate-
ly upon passage and publication.
