AN ORDINANCE relating to and providing for an occupation tax
on persons, firms or corporations, engaged in the business of
carrying passengers for hire, from p~ace to place within the 0ity
of Bremerton over regular routes an~ on regular schedules, an~! amend-
ing Sections 2 and 3 of Ordinance No. 1513.
THE CITY OF BREMERTON t~ES ORDAIN:
Section 1. That Section 2 of Ordinance No. 1513 is hereby
amended to read as follows: Every person, firm or corporation, en-
gag~flg as a common carrier in the intra-city business of carrying
passengers for hire in the City of Bremerton over regular routes
and on regular schedules, slmll pay to the City of Bremerton annual-
ly on or before the 1st da'y.~ of July of each year, an excise tax in
the sum of one per cent (1/%) of 'the gross revenue of such person,
firm or corporation, during the next preceding calendar year, to-
wit: one per Cent of its gross' revenue for the perio~ from January
1st to December 31st, inclusive, of the year preceding the year in
which payment is made.
Section 2. That Section 3 of Ordinance No. 1513 is hereby a-
mended to read as follows: That at or prior to the time of payment
of such tax, and prior to the first day of July in each year, the
person or the manager of the f'irm or corporation en6aging in such
business, shall file an affidavit with the City Cl-:,~rk of the City
of Bremerton, stating the gross revenue of such person, firm or
corporation for the next preceding calendar year, and the City of
Bremerton may accept such affidavit as fixing the amount of tax to
be. paid, or may make an independent ~udit of the books and records
Of such person, firm or corporation, 'to determine the amount of such
tax.' Such tax shall be paid to the City i'reasurer who shall execute
his receipt therefor. If payment of any tax due under this ordinance
is not received by the Treasurer within l0 days from tho due date
there shall be added to ~uch tax a penalty equal to 1 per cent of
the tax due for each 30 days or portion thereof the tax payment is
delinquent.
Section 3. This ordinance shall becom~ effective July l,
1958, after passage and publication.
