AN ORDINANCE amending Section 3 (M) ~
of Ordinance 3147 codified as BMC
15.04.140 relating to fees for ~
water melter accuracy tests.
THE CITY OF BREMERTON DOES HEREBY OP~AIN:
SECTION 1: Section 3(M)' of Ordinance 3147 which is
codified as BMC 15.04.140 is hereby amended to read as follows:
Where the accuracy of the reading of a water meter is
questioned, it shall be removed at the consumer's request and
shall in his presence be tested in the shops of the water depart~ent
by means of the apparatus there provided, and a report thereon
duly made. Both parties must accept the findings so made. If
the test discloses an error against the consumer of more than
three percent in the meter's registry, the excess of the consumption
on the three previous readings shall be credited to the consumer's
r~eter account and the water department will bear the entire cost of
the test, and the deposit required as hereinafter prescribed shall
be returned. Where no such error is found, the person who has
requested the test shall pay the cost of such test and make up
any deficiency in the deposit in cases where the cost exceeds such
deposit. Before making a test of any meter, the person requesting
such test shall, at the time of filing his request, make a deposit
of the cost or estimated cost of such test subject to the conditions
herein stated, which costs for testing are fixed as follows:

1 1/2 inch meter .................... 20.00

charges for actual tim~ and material will be assessed
on sizes greater than two inches.
B. No meter shall be removed or in any way disturbed,
except by or in the presence of a representativq of the water
department.
