Ordinance No. 1651 relating to City Auditor
position, duties and responsibilities.
THE CITY OF BREMERTON DOES ORDAIN:
SECTION 1: Section 1 of Ordinance No. 1651
is hereby amended to read as follows:
Section 1: There is hereby created in the classified
service of the City of Bremerton a position to be known as
"City Auditor". The salary of the City Auditor shall be fixed
from year to year in the annual budget.
SECTION 2: Section 3 of Ordinance No. 1651 is
hereby amended to read as follows:
Section 3: The City Auditor shall carry out such
assignments as are given to him by the City Clerk or by the City
Commissioners given through the City Clerk; shall make such
reports as are required by the City Commissioners, City Clerk,
City Charter, City Ordinances and in general by State Law;
shall be charged with instituting a program, for continuous
review and appraisal of controls, operating procedures and
personnel; shall review performance of vendors who hold city
contracts and franchises; shall make recommendations for
improving the efficiency and effectiveness of operations; shall
kee~ uppermost in his mind the needs of the City Commissioners
in managing the business of the City; shall establish procedures
to detect and prevent fraud; and shall induce compliance with
established policies, procedures and ordinances not limited to
financial matters.
SECTION 3: Section 4 of Ordinance No. 165]. is
hereby amended to read as follows:
Section 4. The City Auditor shall keep records of his
own inspections as well as~those of state or other auditors and

will prepare progress reports on the status of departmental
correction of any significant discrepancies noted in the
inspection reports.
APPROVED by the City Council on the first reading
