EXT. 26 Municipal Judge AFFIDAVIT March 4, 1974 To: City Clerk In September 1973 the Municipal Court office had to be expanded to cover the increase in work load derived from the filing of more traffic citations, and more Criminal and Parking Complaints, coupled with the necessity of having to released defendent's on promise to appear forms and/or payment of fines and costs on a time-payment plan. At the inception of this expansion, the part-time employee was placed into a part-time/full-time position, taking over the duties of the front desk, docketing, indexing, filing and processing of all the traffic, criminal and parking cases filed through the court system, as well as keeping a daily "to-pay" record of those persons who were placed by the court on a payment plan. The clerk typist who performed this work full-time was then shifted into the newly formed position of processing all accident cases filed, preparing the daily morning arraign- ment court calendar, the dail~ bail forfeiture list maintainance and the preparation of daily P.R.'s as well as setting up a payment plan for those defendants who could not immediately pay their fines and needed time. She was also given the responsibility for maintaing the Not Guilty Trial Calendar and the related paper-work associated with the calendar; preparation of trial notices, notices of resettings, trial continuances, or motions on any hearings. This newly formed position has blossomed into a full-time job which is very exacting and has evened out the paperwork flow and stabilized the court office paperwork system amoung the staff. This 3rd permanent position was requested in the 1974 MuzLicipal Court Narrative postion of the Court budget, however, was not acted upon because of the forthcoming job description survey.
