~AN ORDINANCE amending Ordinance No.
2836, Section 1 and Ordinance No.
2767, Section 1, relating to
mandatory retirement age.
THE CITY OF BRE..~.~RTON DOES ORDAIN:
SECTION 1: Section 1 of Ordinance No. 2836 is
hereby amended to read as follows:
Section 1: Upon reaching the age of sixty-five
years no appointed, official and no employee of the city
of Bremerton, except uniformed personnel of the police
and fire departments who are governed by state civil
service and retirement laws, shall be permitted to re-
main in the employ of the citY of Bremerton, PROVIDED THAT
employees and appointed officia~ls who have reached the
age of sixty-five may be granted' an extension of employment
on a year to year basis, upon the condition that they
demonstrate ability to satisfactorily perform the tasks
required of such employment. Such extension is to be
granted by the Commissioner under whose jurisdiction the
employees' or officials' job classification is.
SECTION 2: Section 1 of Ordinance No. 2767
is hereby amended to read as follows:
Section 1: Section 13~ Subsection (a) of Ordinance
No. 1572 is hereby amended to read as follows:
Each member in the city service who,
on or before September 1, 1944, has attained the age of
sixty-five years~ shall be retired on the first day of
October, 1944, and each member who shall thereafter attain
the age of sixty-five years, sh~ll be retired on the first
day of the calendar month next succeeding the month
which he attains the age of sixty-five years. PROVIDED
THAT, if the employee is continued on employment status
on a year to year basis pursuant to City ordinance he
shall be retired on the first day of the calendar month
next succeeding the month in which his employment on a
year to year basis has ceased.
