An ordinance providing for a study project to
determine the feasibility of utilizing non-
public owned modes of public transportation
for certain residents of the City of Bremerton.
THE CITY OF BREMERTON DOES ORDAIN:
Section 1. The city of Bremerton declares that it is
desirous of providing effective public transportation for all
residents of the City, however, further declares that it has
proven not feasible to offer bus service to certain areas of the
City because of l~w ridership and high cost.
Section 2. The City Clerk is hereby authorized to contract
with a non-public entity for lease of transportation services for
the residents of that area known as Marine Drive; said service to
be the pickup of residents of Said area at their homes for transport
to a designated City bus stop, and pickups at said bus stop for
transport to their homes. Said service is to be a pilot project
for the purpose of providing the City Council with necessary infor-
mation regarding the feasibility of offering such service within
designated areas of the City of Bremerton.
Section 3. The service specified in Section 2 herein
shall be performed by such person, partnership, company or corporation
as shall provide the City with the lowest bid in response to
publication of a proposal for bids.
Section 4. The City Clerk shall prepare a contract for
execution with the successful bidder, said contract to be for a
period of time not greater that six (6) months. Two weeks before
completion of said contract, the service as provided herein shall
be reviewed by the City Council, and may be continued for such time,
or expanded to such other areas, as the Council may deem necessary
and proper. The Council may also discontinue the service.
Section 5. If any provision of this ordinance, or its
application to any person or circumstances is held invalid, the

remainder of the ordinance, or the application of the provision to
other persons or circumstances is not affected.
