AN ORDINANCE relating to and regulating the installation
and use of pipes, fixtures, and apparatus used or intended
to be used to conduct or consume the natural, manufactured
or mixed gas in the City of Bremerton; amending Section
2.1 and 2.2 of Ordinance number 2236 and Sections 3 and 4
of Ordinance number 2483 and adding a new section 2.21 to
Ordinance number 2236.
THE CITY OF BRF24ERTON DOES HEREBY ORDAIN:
Section 1. That Section 3 of Ordinance number 2483 and
Section 2.1 of Ordinance number 2236 is hereby amended to read as
follows:
PLAN REQUIRED: Gas piping contractors and Appliance Installer
Contractor will supply the Building Department with a sketch of all gas
piping and appliances installed on sheets furnished by the Building
Department, showing the meter location and location of all appliances
installed in any building in accordance with the instructions shown on
the plan sheet.
DEFINITIONS: The term Gas Fitter shall be construed to mean
any person who actually performs the labor required in installing,
extending, altering any gas piping, appliances, fixtures, vents and
controls who is the holder of a valid certificate of competency issued
pursuant to the provisions of this Ordinance.
The term Gas Appliance Installer shall be construed to mean
any person who actually performs the labor required in installing
conversion burners, furnaces, or appliances including duct work and
venting. Gas appliance Installers may connect the appliances to the
gas piping within the room area, as shown on the plan for location of
the appliances; they shall light-off, adjust controls and service as
required, and who is the holder of a valid certificate of competency
issued pursuant to the provisions of this Ordinance.
Section 2. Section 4 of Ordinance number 2483 and Section
2.2 of Ordinance number 2236 is hereby amended to read as follows:
EXPERIENCE REQUIRED: Ail applicants for Gas Fitter's
Certificate of Competency shall be familiar with all codes, ordinances,
and regulations governing the installation of gas piping, venting,
fixtures, and appliances and shall possess one of the following
qualifications:
1. Proof of a reasonable amount of experience acquired
on installations which have been approved by a recognized
authority or a journeyman piumDer.
2. Certificate indicating satisfactory completion of a
course in gas fitting and appliance installing.
The examining board shall determine the sufficiency of the
experience and education of the applicant.
Section 3. That Ordinance number 2236 is hereby am ended
by adding thereto Section 2.21 which reads as follows:
EXPERIENCE REQUIRED: All applicants for Gas Appliance
Installer's Certificate of Competency shall be familiar
with all codes, ordinances and regulations governing the
installation of fixtures, vents, and appliances and the
piping thereof and shall have a certificate indicating
satisfactory completion of a course in gas fitting and
appliance installing.

PASSED on second reading by the City Council of the City of
Bremerton, signed by the Mayor, and Attested by the City Clerk in
