SUMMARY: A call for bid was issued and two bids were received for the remodel and addition of
the Bremerton Police Station. The architect's estimate was $1,247,050 including alternates. The low
responsive base bid without alternates was received from Berschauer Phillips in the amount of
$1,495,417 plus sales tax. Bid alternates 1 through 10 totalled $$468,828. It is recommended that the
bid be awarded to Berschauer Phillips with additive 4 (asphalt coating) in the sum of $4,979 and
additive 5 (paint existing metal siding) in the sum of $2,081.

FISCAL IMP ACTS (Include Budgeted Amount): This project is funded by the Public Safety Bond
proceeds and is included in the 2006 budget.

RECOMMENDED MOTION: I move City Council approve award of the bid to Berschauser
Phillips for construction of Bremerton Police Station at Burwell and Chester for a total bid of
$1,495,417 plus sales tax of$128,605 for a total of$I,624,022.00 plus additive 4 (asphalt coating) in
the sum of $4,979 and additive 5 (paint existing metal siding) in the sum of $2,081 and authorize the
Mayor to finalize and execute a contract for the same.
