AN ORDINANCE chang±ng certa±n zoning district designations and
amending the official Zoning Map of the City of Bremerton to
correct zoning errors in an area between Cambrian and Summit
Avenues in the vicinity of Preble Street. (Kassahn/Fordahl Zoning
Review)
WHEREAS, the City of Bremerton established a six-month
Correction of Errors process following the 1988 adoption of the
new Zoning Ordinance to find and correct errors in the text and
in the application of zoning to specific properties or areas; and
WHEREAS, within that review period, Thomas and Sharon
Fordahl and Darrel Kassahn requested reviews of their respective
properties, both of which are located at the intersection of
Preble and Lafayette, and both of which were included in a larger
area for the purpose of a neighborhood zoning review; and
WHEREAS, the Zoning Review Committee conducted a review of
the subject area at its June 19, 1989 meeting, determined that
errors had occurred in the application of the Duplex Residential
(DR) zone, and made recommendations to correct the errors; and
WHEREAS, the Bremerton City Council conducted a public
hearinq on August 23, 1989, to accept public comments pertaining
to this matter and to consider the Review Committee's
recommendations; and
WHEREAS, the City Council agreed with the Zoning Review
Committee's conclusions that errors had occurred in the zoning of
the subject area, the "DR" zoning of the Kassahn property was not
justified nor'was some downzoning from "R-2" to "DR" that
resulted in the elimination of a high-density transitional area
in which the Fordahl property is located; now, therefore,
THE CITY OF BREMERTON DOES HEREBY ORDAIN
SECTION 1. The official Zoning Map of the C~ty of Bremerton
is hereby amended as shown in Exhibit "A", and as follows:
Lots 1 through 8, Block 25 of the Plat of Charleston
shall be changed from Duplex Residential (DR) to
Multiple-family Residential (MF).
Lots 6 through 17, Block 4 of Anderson's Bay View
Addition shall be changed from Duplex Residential (DR)
to Multiple-family Residential (MF).
Block 6 of Anderson's Bay View Addition shall be
changed from Duplex Residential (DR) to General
Business (GB).
APPROVED by the City Council on the first reading this
