Committee to include members who reside outside the City; and
amending BMC 2.100.020.
THE CITY OF BREMERTON DOES ORDAIN:
SECTION 1. Amendment. Section 2.100.020 of the Bremerton
Municipal Code is amended to read as follows:
.020 MEMBERSHIP AND TERMS OF OFFICE.
(a) The committee shall consist of five members:
(1) The mayor, with confirmation of the council, shall
appoint members to the committee as follows:
(A) One member shall represent public access,
educational and institutional uses of the system;
(B) Two members shall represent the community at
large;
(2) One city staff person, not subject to confirmation;
(3) The council shall appoint one councilperson.
(b) Citizen members shall initially be appointed for terms
of office of one, two, and three years, respectively, and shall
hold office until their successors are appointed. Successors of
such members shall be appointed for terms of three years each.
(c) Staff and council membership shall be for one year with
reappointments each succeeding year by the mayor and council,
respectively.
(d) Neither the franchisee nor any of its agents, servants,
employees or their families, nor any of its subsidiary, parent, or
affiliate corporations or any of their agents, servants, employees

or me~ers of their families, nor any person with financial
interest in the system, shall be appointed as a member of the
committee.
(e) citizen me~ers may reside outside the City of Bremerton
if procedures promulgated by the council for soliciting applicants
fail to generate a ~alified candidate who is a City resident.
Section 2. 1989 Appointments. To allow a transition to the
membership requirements added by Section 1 of this ordinance, and
as an exception to these amendments, co~ittee vacancies may be
filled during 1989 by non-residents of the City and said appointees
shall be allowed to se~e a full three-year te~.
Section 3. Effective Date. This ordinance shall become
effective ten (10) days from passage and publications.
