~a--NORDIN~CE changing the zoning district designation and amending
the official Zoning Map of the City of Bremerton to correct a
zoning error in a commercial area northeast of the intersection of
Wheaton Way and Sheridan Road. (Towne Zoning Map Review)
W~EREAS, the City of Bremerton established a six-month
Correction of Errors process following the 1988 adoption of the new
Zoning Ordinance to find and correct errors in the text and in the
application of zoning to specific properties or areas; and
W~EREAS, Mr. S.R. Towne, within the six-month review period,
requested a review of the "Neighborhood Business (NB)" zoning of
his property, which is located in a five-lot commercial area
immediately north of Sheridan Road and east of Wheaton Way; and
W~EREAS, the Bremerton Zoning Review Committee, at its meeting
of May 30, 1989, reviewed the new zoning of the entire five-lot
commercial area, including the Towne property, determined that an
error had occurred, and made a recommendation to the City Council
for its correction to "General Business (GB)"; and
W~EREAS, the Bremerton City Council conducted a public hearing
on June 21, 1989, to accept public comments pertaining to this
matter and to consider the Review Committee's recommendations; and
W~EREAS, the City Council agreed with the Zoning Review
Committee's conclusions that an error had occurred in the zoning
of the subject area, that the "Neighborhood Business (NB)" zone was
inappropriate for that location and did not reflect the types of
existing development nor the characteristics of present or likely
future tenants; now, therefore,
THE CITY OF BREMERTON DOES HEREBY ORDAIN
SECTION 1. The zoning district designation for the Northwest
corner of Wheaton Way and Sheridan Road, more particularly
described below, shall be changed from "Neighborhood Business (NB)"
to "General Business (GB)":
That portion of the NW 1/4 of the NW 1/4 of Sec
12 T24N R1E, W.M. described as follows:
Beginning at the SW cor of said NW 1/4 of the
NW 1/4; thence S89 03'36"E along the centerline
of Sheridan Rd 476.74 Ft; thence N 1 31'12"E
333 ft; thence N 89 03'36"W to the west line
of said NW 1/4; thence south along said west
line to the point of beginning. EXCEPT the
Right-of-way for Sheridan Rd and Wheaton Way.

SECTION Z. The official Zoning Map of the City of Bremerton
is hereby amended as stated in Section i above.
