AN ORDINANCE terminating Bremerton Municipal Court as
currently established under RCW 3.46 and
establishing Bremerton Municipal Court pursuant to
RCW 3.50.060.
Tf~E BR~4ERTON CITY COUNCIL DOES f{EREBY ORDAIN:
SECTION 1: A new chapter, 2.62 Municipal Court, is
added to the Bremerton Municipal Code to read as follows:
.010 ORGANIZATION OF MUNICIPAL COURT. Bremerton
Municipal Court is hereby established ~oursuant to Chapter 3.50
RCW.
.020 MUNICIPAL JUDGE - APPOINTMENT - QUALIFICATIONS AND
TE~M. The office of Municipal Court Judge shall be filled by
appointment of the Mayor, subject to the confirmation of City
Council, and shall otherwise be qualified to hold office by
reason of United States and State of Washington citizenship and
admission to practice before the courts of record of the State of
Washington. The term of the first judge shall commence on
January 1, 1988 and terminate on January 1, 1992. The term of
his or her successor shall commence on January 1, 1992, and every
fourth year thereafter.
.030 SESSIONS OF THE COURT. The municipal Court shall
be open and hold such regular and special sessions as the
Municipal Judge shall prescribe, provided that the court shall
not be open on nonjudicial days.
SECTION 2: The Clerk is directed to deliver all
necessary notices to Kitsap County to effect the termination of
the Bremerton Municipal Department of KitsaD County District
Court.
SEC'~ION 3: EFFECTIVE DATE. This Ordinance shall take
effect on January 1, 1988.
