AN ORDINANCE amending Ordinance #4052, §3, to increase
the permissible taxicab "flag drop" fee from $1.00
to $1.50.
WHEREAS, the profit available to lease taxicab operators has
been substantially reduced by increases in the cost of liability
insurance and the imposition of FICA and FUTA taxes on the wages
of cab drivers; now, therefore
THE CITY OF BREMERTON DOES HEREBY ORDAIN:
SECTION 1: 53 of Ordinance 4052 is hereby amended as
follows:
(a) The City Council finds that the taxicab
business and the rates charged by taxi operators
affects the City's economic livelihood and the
public interest. In recognition therefore, the
City Council proscribes the following rates for
taxicab meters:
(i) For one passenger for the first 1/7th
mile, or fraction thereof, not greater
than ~e B~a~ ~88~ One Dollar
Fifty Cents ($1.50), and thereafter
for each 1/7th mile or fraction thereof,
not greater than 20¢; for every minute
of waiting time, not greater than 30¢;
for each additional passenger after
two, not greater than 50¢. Children
under the age of twelve (12) are included
as additional passengers at no extra
charge. No additional passenger shall be
picked up without the express consent
of the original passenger.
