Perpetual Care Fund and repealing chapter 2.60
of the Municipal Code.
THE CITY OF BREMERTON DOES HEREBY ORDAIN:
Section 1. New Sections. Sections 3.20.010 through 3.20.040
are hereby adopted to read as follows:
3.20.010 DEPOSIT OF MONEYS -FUND CREATED. The City Treasurer
shall create a fund to be known as the Cemetery Perpetual Care Fund
into which shall be deposited all funds, as herein provided, as
perpetual care funds; and the amount so deposited in said fund
shall be invested in such securities as may be approved by the
investment committee, the interest thereon to be used by the City
to pay the expenses of the perpetual care of Ivy Green Cemetery and
no part of the principal thereby created shall be used for such
care.
3.20.020 SALE OF LOTS - PERCENTAGE SET ASIDE FOR CARE. The
lots included in Ivy Green Cemetery, shall be sold at such prices
as may be determined by resolution of the City, and twenty percent
of the purchase price shall be used by the City for the perpetual
care of every lot purchased.
3.20.030 PERPETUAL CARE DEFINED. "Perpetual care," as used in
this chapter, means the preparation of the ground and the supplying
of fertile topsoil for grass, seeding the same, the care and
fertilization thereof including keeping the grass cut, providing
sufficient water to keep such grass green, planting of plants and
shrubbery in such parts of the cemetery as may be determined by the
city and caring for such monuments as may be provided by the owner
of such lots, the keeping of graves and vaults therein filled, the
care of plants thereon and such other care as may be necessary to
keep said lots, graves and vaults in proper and attractive
condition; Provided, That no walls of cement or other material and
no vaults shall be built of cement or other material in Ivy Green
Cemetery, the walls of which are above the surface of the ground
and no monuments or markers shall be placed thereon other than
marble or other indestructible material and all markers and all
monuments shall be of reasonable uniform size and character.
3.20.040 RECORD OF LOTS SOLD. The city shall provide a record
for all lots sold in Ivy Green Cemetery.
Section 2. Chapter 2.60 of the Bremerton Municipal Code is
hereby repealed.
