AN ORDINANCE repealing provisions of the Municipal Code establishing
wages, hours and benefits, chapters 2.36, 2.40, 2.44 and 2.52 of the Bremerton
Municipal Code, and recodifying City Hall hours and holidays.
THE CITY OF BREMERTON DOES HEREBY ORDAIN:
Section 1. Repeal. The following Chapters of the Bremerton Municipal Code are
hereby repealed in their entirety:
Chapter 2.36 SALARIES.
Chapter 2.40 EMPLOYEES -HOURS, VACATIONS, SICK LEAVE
Chapter 2.44 EMPLOYEES -RETIREMENT AND PENSIONS
Chapter 2.52 EMPLOYEES EXPENSES
Section 2. New Chapter. A new chapter, 2.02 CITY BUSINESS HOURS, is
adopted to read as follows:
2.02.010 CITY OFFICE HOURS. All offices of the City shall be kept open for the
transaction of business during nine hours scheduled between the hours of seven-thirty a.m.
and five p.m. of each business day from Monday through Friday of each week, holidays
excepted, unless amended by City Council resolution.
City Hall shall be closed on Saturday, Sunday and holidays.
2.02.020 LEGAL HOLIDAYS.
(a) The following holidays are adopted as legal holidays for the City: The first day
of January (New Year's Day); the third Monday of January (Martin Luther King's Birthday);
the third Monday of February (President's Day); the last Monday of May (Memorial Day);
the Fourth day of July (Independence Day); the first Monday in September (Labor Day);
the eleventh day in November (Veteran's Day); the fourth Thursday and Friday in
November (Thanksgiving holiday); the twenty-fifth day of December (Christmas Day); and
any other day designated by public proclamation of the Chief Executive of the State as a
legal holiday or as a day of thanksgiving.
(b) Whenever any legal holiday falls upon a Sunday, the following Monday shall be
a legal holiday, and whenever any legal holiday falls upon a Saturday, the preceding Friday
shall be a legal holiday.
Section 3. Expense Policy Confirmed. 'Employment Expense Reimbursement',
Policy 3-1 of the City's Administrative Policy and Procedures Manual, shall remain in full
force and effect unless amended by Council resolution or Council approved Collective
Bargaining Agreement.
