AN ORDINANCE amending the Official Zoning Map of the city
of Bremerton to correct the zoning of Jackson Park School.
WHEREAS, the Bremerton Zoning Ordinance and Map include a "Parks
& Schools (PS)" zone, in which the City intended to place all major
public parks and schools when the Zoning Ordinance was adopted in 1988; and
WHEREAS~ Jackson Park Elementary School was not zoned "PS", but
was included in the "Multi-family Residential (bIF)" zoning district, in
which it is now a nonconformity; and
WHEREAS, a rezone was initiated by the City of Bremerton to correct
this suspected zoning error; and
WHEREAS, an environmental checklist in accordance with State Environ-
mental Policy Act (SEPA) guidelines was prepared and a Determination of
Nonsignificance issued by the Director of Community Development on May 24,
1990; and
WHEREAS, the Bremerton Planning Commission conducted a public hearing
on June 19, 1990, found the request to meet the criteria for approval of a
rezone as contained in Zoning Ordinance Chapter X, Section 5-B, and
forwarded a recommendation for approval to the City Council, along with
its Findings of Fact and Conclusions of Law in support of that recommendation;
and
WHEREAS, the Bremerton City Council conducted a public hearing on
June 27, 1990, a% which it consi~ere~ %he Planning Commission's recommendation,
reviewed its findings and conclusions, and accepted public comments;
now therefore
THE CITY OF BREMERTON DOES HEREBY ORDAIN
Section 1. The Official Zoning Map of the City of Bremerton is
hereby amended to rezone the 12.6 acre site of Jackson Park Elementary
School from "Multi-family Residential (MF)" to "Parks & Schools (PS)",
as shown in Exhibit "A" which is attached hereto and incorporated herein
