AN ORDINANCE annexing an area known as the West Monroe Area and fixing the
effective date of annexation.
WHEREAS, the City of Bremerton, Washington received from property owners residing
within a 3.52 acre area lying west of Kean Street bordered on the north and west by the City of
Bremerton and lying south, but not including Wemer Road, hereinafter known as the West
Monroe Area, a Notice of Intent to commence annexation proceedings; and
WHEREAS, the City Council approved the 10% Petition for the West Monroe
Annexation on July 20, 1994, and required the area to assume a proportionate share of existing
City indebtedness and to be zoned under BMC 21.02.260; and
WHEREAS, the City's Notice of Intent to annex was filed with the Kitsap County
Boundary Review Board on July 23, 1994 and the forty-five day review has elapsed without
jurisdiction of the board being invoked; and
LAWRENCE
WHEREAS, there was filed with the City Council of the City ofBremerton a Petition for
the annexation of the West Monroe Area conforming to the City Council's requirements as
described above, in writing and signed by the owners representing 75% of property value,
according to the assessed valuation for general taxation; and
WHEREAS, the Bremerton City Council conducted a public hearing on November 22,
1994, following property posting and publication of the hearing as required by law, to accept
public comments on the annexation petition and accept said; now therefore:
THE CITY OF BREMERTON DOES ORDAIN THE FOLLOWING:
Section 1. The territory described and further depicted in Exhibit "A" and attached
hereto and incorporated by reference herein shall be and constitute a part of the City of
Bremerton.
Section 2. In conformance with the terms of the Annexation Petition all property
within the territory annexed hereby shall he subject to all the City's laws and ordinances including
assessment or taxes in payment of any bonds issued or debts contracted prior to or existing at the
date of annexation.
Section 3. The official zoning map of the City of Bremerton shall be amended to
denote this area as Single Family - 3 (SF-3) until permanent land use designations are adopted
pursuant to BMC 21.02.260.
Section 4. This ordinance shall take effect ten days following passage and publication.
The City Clerk shall certify this annexation ordinance to the Kitsap County Commissioners upon
it's effective date.
